Solo Winners' Recital

Rules for all Age Categories
• All works must be performed from memory
• No repeats
• No simplified version, no popular music and no concerti
• All winners will play at Winners' Recital. The piece will be chosen by the judge. Please note: in consideration of the overall length of the recital a shorter piece might be chosen by judge.
Application fee: $35.

- First Prize - $200
- Second Prize - $100
Ages Categories & Repertoire Requirements
7 to 10 years
• One work from Baroque or Classical Period
• One piece from Romantic or Modern Period
11 to 14 years
• One work from Baroque or Classical Period
• One piece from Romantic or Modern Period
15 to 18 years
• One work from Baroque or Classical Period
• One piece from Romantic or Modern Period
Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Classical Guitar and Harp

Fees and Regulations
Application Fees:
Solo Division $35
• Applicant's age as of February 4, 2015 will determine the age division.
• Previous first prize winners may choose to compete in a higher age division but not in the same or lower age division.
• Registration fee is not refundable.
• Applicants must not have graduated from high school.
• Works to be performed must be chosen from the required repertoire; no substitutions will be allowed.
• Contestants will be judged on overall musicianship, individual sense of style, technical proficiency and general performance impressions.
• The decision of the judges will be final. This includes the decision to award, not to award, or to split all prizes. A winner who cannot attend the Winners' Recital will be disqualified.
• Winners will be notified by phone no later than Friday, February 20, 2015. A listing of the 2015 winners will also be listed on the City Music Center website.
• All contestants will receive judge's notes by mail after the competition.
